Reinhart has not had the best camp so far, and it all started early in the preseason. He was played on the right side and was beat wide often. Though Todd McLellan addressed that playing him on his non-dominant hand was not a good move, he wasn’t impressive when he was playing on the correct side.
That being said, Reinhart wasn’t ready for the NHL, and it showed in his play. He struggled often and given his inability to play on the right side, a cut was expected. The Oilers have a plethora of LHD that all rank above him, and if he can’t even play on his non-dominant hand, it wouldn’t work out.
