As per TSN’s Ryan Rishaug, the Edmonton Oilers aren’t prepared to look for solutions for the defensive corps in the free agency market. Instead, they are supposedly waiting for a “big fish,” and that big fish has been said to be Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie.
Barrie officially filed for arbitration Tuesday, and now, there are a lot of cards at stake. First off, there are a lot of rules when it comes to the NHL and pending arbitration hearings, and this could create conflict when it comes to trading players.
Ok, never mind: arbitration guys can be traded anytime, even without new deal.
