The Edmonton Oilers may still get a chance at Tyson Barrie, and there is an update on the restricted free agent.
Barrie’s arbitration trial is set for July 29, more than a couple of weeks from now. The Colorado Avalanche defenseman is in a standstill when it comes to his contract extension, as he is looking for more money. General Manager Joe Sakic has referred to Barrie as a number five defenseman.
As a famous man once said, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” And surely enough, General Manager Peter Chiarelli sees a top-four defenseman in Barrie and is therefore waiting this out.
