This comes as no surprise and marks the second straight year that the Oilers will open their season against their Pacific Division rivals. The Battle of Alberta will also signify the first Oilers game of the 2017-18 campaign.
Also, Edmonton will play the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 7 for the Canucks’ home opener.
Edmonton is coming off one of its more impressive seasons in recent years. In 2016-17, the Oilers broke an 11-year playoff drought, and also finished second in the Pacific Division and fourth in the Western Conference.
Captain Connor McDavid won the Art Ross Trophy, leading the league with 100 points through 82 games.
