YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team travels to East Lansing, Mich. this weekend, Friday-Saturday, April 6-7, to compete in the Spartan Invitational.
This will be the first trip back to the Spartan Invitational since the 2014 season, which saw EMU claim six titles between 11 events on both the track and field. One of those victories came courtesy of current senior Janina Pollatz (Grandville, Mich.-Grand Rapids Christian), who took gold in the long jump with a then personal-best distance of 5.46m. In fact, Pollatz is the only current member of the team who was also on the roster at that time, as this weekend's invitational will serve as a new setting for many of the current student-athletes.
