(EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University freshman MJ Smith (Rockford, Ill.-Winnebago) is tied atop the leaderboard at the Badger Invitational after an opening round tally of three-under 69 at University Ridge Golf Course, Sept. 26. Playing just 66 miles from his hometown of Rockford, Ill., Smith fired seven birdies throughout the day to post his career low round.
Sam Houston State was one of only two teams to break par on the opening day, and leads the event after firing an eight-under 280.
