Simmons Finishes Sixth at U.S. Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore. (EMUEagles.com) – The decathlon at the U.S. Olympic Trials came to a close today, July 3, in Eugene, Oregon. Representing the Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team was recent graduate Solomon Simmons, who finished an impressive sixth amongst the top decathletes in the nation after amassing a total of 7829 points.

Beginning day two with the 110m hurdles Simmons finished within the top-five, nabbing fifth after posting a time of 14.18 seconds, which narrowly surpassed his collegiate career-best. He then continued the trend at the discus throw, taking home a fourth-place finish after posting a mark of 45.
