CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University senior defensive end Jose Ramirez (Lake Alfred, Fla.-Auburndale-Arizona-Riverside City) collected Mid-American Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week honors, the league announced today, Nov. 21. It marks the first time this season he has garnered the accolade, despite a program-record four sack performance at Western Michigan University earlier this season, Oct. 8.
Ramirez was outstanding in EMU's game against Kent State, Nov. 16. He finished with a team-high seven tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss. His TFL total is his second-best of the season, just behind the four he registered at WMU.
