EVANSTON, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University wrestling team concluded competition at the 54th Annual Ken Kraft Midlands Championships today, Dec. 30, with a huge day from redshirt junior heavyweight Gage Hutchison (Buchanan, Mich.-Buchanan), who took fourth place out of 42 of the best wrestlers in the country.
The fourth place finish was the best for an EMU grappler at The Midlands since 2000, when Mike Feeney took second place at 174 lbs. Hutchison racked up six wins over the two days of competition, including wins over three nationally ranked opponents, and four who were seeded in the tournament.
