LEXINGTON, Ky. (EMUEagles.com) – For the 14th consecutive season, the Eastern Michigan University volleyball program was recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for academic excellence with the AVCA Team Academic Award. The Green and White ended the 2017-18 academic year with a cumulative grade point average of 3.360.
Overall, the honor marks the 18th time in the program's history that EMU has earned the award. In addition, the Eagles were one of just 19 programs across Division I to achieve their Dig Pink® fundraising goals through the Side-Out Foundation.
A record 973 college and high school teams were recognized by the AVCA in 2017-18, topping the previous year's total of 835 to set a new all-time high for this award, including a total of 164 NCAA Division I women's programs.
