EMU Takes Second Straight with 6-1 Victory Over Detroit Mercy

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University tennis team closed out non-conference play with a big 6-1 win over the University of Detroit Mercy Friday night, March 17, at the Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield. The Eagles (5-9) cruised to the doubles point before winning five singles contests from the Titans (3-8), three of which went to three sets.

The Czech duo of Andrea Martinovska (Plzn, Czech Republic-Sport and Management School) and Marie Mayerova (Krmelin, Czech Republic) took the No. 1 doubles match, 6-2, before Ani Gogvadze (Tbilisi, Georgia-Khikani) and Maria Paula Ribero (Bucaramanga, Colombia) defeated Detroit Mercy's Pauline Van Herck and Anna Davydova by an identical score to secure the doubles point and a 1-0 lead for the Eagles.
