Eastern Michigan University will pay for repairs to the torn, deflated Indoor Athletic Practice Facility with funds from an insurance policy with FM Global, which includes a $50,000 deductible.
According to an EMU press release from Tuesday, EMU will tap into revenue generated from the facility’s rental to pay the deductible as they continue to determine the cause of the collapse.
"Evaluation of the dome structure and damage to the fabric remains under way," Executive Director of Media Relations Geoff Larcom said in the press release. "It is possible that some initial re-inflation of the dome may take place in the next several days, which would help determine if other areas of damage, and therefore needed repairs, are evident.
