EMU Cheer Places Fifth at NCA College Nationals

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University's cheerleading squad finished in fifth place in its division at the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA)/ National Dance Association (NDA) Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship held April 5-7 in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The team, which was competing at the event for the first time, appeared in the intermediate Division I division of what is billed as "the largest College Cheer and Dance Championship in the world." The squad tallied a 94.20 to finish behind SMU (97.33), Northern Illinois (95.67), Florida International (94.57), and Northern Colorado (94.57).

"This team is so resilient and driven," said Head Cheer Coach/Spirit Coordinator Mary Spilski.
