SPRING LAKE, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University rowing team completed its first day at the 22nd annual Lubbers Cup, Saturday, April 8, on Spring Lake. The Eagles had a successful day of racing, claiming victory in six of eight races.
In total, EMU had four boats out on the water, with each competing in two races. The 1-V8+ and Novice 8+ swept their respective events, while the 2-V8+ and Varsity 4+ went one for two.
"The first full race is always a question mark, you think you are fast and are ready to go, but you never know until you test against another team," Head Coach Kemp Savage explained.
