Eagles earn fifth straight victory

The Eastern Michigan women’s basketball team continued their momentum heading into Mid-American Conference season by defeating the University of Detroit-Mercy Titans 85-68 in Detroit on Wednesday night.

Junior Janay Morton shooting woes came to an end as she scored 16 points, but it was Cha Sweeney's near triple-double performance with 23 points, seven rebounds and seven assists that sealed the victory.

Three other players scored in double figures with Phillis Webb scoring 14 points, Chanise Baldwin provided 10 points and Sasha Dailey who scored a season-high 18 points.

Morton and the Eagles got off to a fast start as she knocked down three early triples in the first quarter to take a 9-0 lead.
