Eagles Can't Overcome Early Deficit Against Michigan

YPSILANTI, Mich (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University baseball team could not overcome a big early deficit in a 12-5 defeat to the University of Michigan, Wednesday afternoon, May 2, at Oestrike Stadium. UM (27-13) notched a seven-run fifth inning, and never looked back despite five runs from EMU (16-26) in the last four innings.

Eastern was able to collect 10 hits on the day, led by a career-high four-hit output from freshman Jared Kauffman (Springboro, Ohio-Bishop Fenwick), including two RBIs. Fellow freshman Nate Jones (Battle Creek, Mich.-Lakeview) extended his hitting streak to 16 games on an infield single in the ninth.
