MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University baseball team was overpowered in a 17-1 defeat to West Virginia University, Tuesday evening, May 2, at Monongalia County Ballpark.
EMU's (18-27) offense could only muster three hits on the night, led by an RBI double from sophomore John Rensel Jr. (Tallmadge, Ohio-Tallmadge) in the eighth inning. Other than that, they got six other base runners on three walks, one hit by pitch, and two errors.
The Mountaineers (26-17) jumped all over the Eagles early, ambushing them for four runs on four hits to take an early 4-0 lead.
