The catch was Jones’ eighth on the day, but more importantly the 388th of his college tenure, otherwise known as the catch that made him the NCAA all time leader in career receptions, surpassing old teammate, Justin Hardy.
Unknowingly to most fans, in the first quarter Jones quietly broke ECU’s single season record in receiving yards and came within 5-catches from the NCAA record for receptions in a season during the game too. Seeing a Pirate at one and two in the record books is the one thing ECU fans can find solace in from such a disappointing season.
