The East Carolina University women’s tennis team will kick off its 2019 spring season on Friday against North Carolina State University.
The team is coming off an impressive 2017-2018 season in which it went 17-9, with a 3-5 record in conference. They did not lose a game at home, winning all seven of their games, but struggled on the road, where they went 5-7. The Pirates won five games and lost two during their neutral games. Their season high winning streak was five wins, from April 5 against Elon University until April 14 against University of Cincinnati.
The 17-9 record is tied for the fifth-most wins in a season in program history and they have also won 17 matches in two of their last three years.
