The East Carolina University women’s tennis team traveled to Chapel Hill, North Carolina last night to take on the No. 3 ranked University of North at Chapel Hill where the team was shutout, not winning a single set 0-7.
The match up started with doubles play where ECU’s (0-2) freshmen Minette Van Vreden and Martina Paladini-Jennings were shut out 0-6 by UNC’s (3-0) juniors Alexa Graham and Sara Daavettila. The match was followed by another loss for the Pirates, but this one included a tie-breaker match.
ECU junior Lisa Hofbauer and sophomore Alisa Diercksen fell to UNC junior Makenna Jones and freshman Cameron Morra 3-7 in the tie-breaker, which gave the Tar Heels the first point of the match, going 2-0 in doubles.
