The East Carolina University women’s lacrosse team welcomed Kennesaw State University to Johnson Stadium Thursday, but fell 17-14 after going back-and-forth for most of the game.
The first 30 minutes was a contest of exchanged goals, with one team scoring one or two goals then the other team doing just the same. ECU (1-5) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first six minutes of the game. Kennesaw State (1-3) responded with four consecutive goals before the Pirates scored four straight goals themselves to go back up 6-4.
The first half ended with ECU leading the Owls 7-6.
