The first matchup between the two American Athletic Conference teams ended in South Florida’s (8-16) favor, as the Bulls swept the Pirates in Greenville, 3-0 in late October.
Sophomore outside hitter Ashton Mares led the Pirates, recording her seventh straight double-double with 11 kills and 18 digs. Senior Libero Erika Figueroa added 13 digs and junior setter Sabrina Gonzalez had 25 assists for East Carolina (10-13).
“Dakota is a good player and we need to look to slow her down with solid blocking and try to force her into a tip game,” said assistant coach Cindi Miller.
