On East Carolina University’s annual family weekend, Virginia Tech showed up to play. After a competitive first half, the Pirates were not able to keep up with the Hokies’ offensive firepower.
VT exposed ECU’s defense Saturday evening in a runaway contest with the Hokies emerging victorious 64-17. The Pirates came out stronger this game than their previous two and held VT to seven points during the first quarter while jumping ahead by 10, 17-7. During the quarter Gardner Minshew threw a pair of touchdowns and looked to be leading ECU to a strong game.
“I thought we came out and started the game hard and played hard and aggressive,” head coach Scottie Montgomery said.
