Houston is leading the way for American Athletic Conference football from a national perspective at the moment.
The Cougars broke into the Associated Press rankings on Sunday at No. 24 and they produced both the AAC offensive and defensive players of the week on Monday.
Quarterback Greg Ward Jr. continued his stellar junior season by completing 16-of-18 passes and rushing for a game-high 82 yards last Thursday as Houston (5-0) pulled away from SMU, 49-28. On defense, linebacker Steven Taylor had three sacks for the second consecutive game.
