The much-anticipated starting debut of home-grown East Carolina University quarterback Holton Ahlers featured the freshman gaining more yards of offense than the entire No. 10 University of Central Florida team, but it’s the mistakes which will be remembered most from a 37-10 loss Saturday night.
ECU (2-5, 0-4 AAC) turned the ball over five times, including three from Ahlers, to zero turnovers committed by UCF (7-0, 4-0 AAC).
"The offensive story was just turnovers," head coach Scottie Montgomery said. "Holton Ahlers played just an incredible game. He did have a couple mistakes. I think he's going to be a fantastic quarterback here in the next few weeks or so.
