The East Carolina University men’s basketball team welcomed the University of Connecticut Huskies to Minges Coliseum Sunday in an exciting matchup, with ECU losing in the end, 84-80.
The second largest crowd of the season, 4,524 fans comprised of a mixture between ECU and UConn, who were treated to a back-and-forth game. Through the first 25 minutes, it appeared as though the Pirates (10-15, 4-10 AAC) were ready to take control of the game, leading 57-48 with 14:11 remaining in the game. The Huskies (13-14, 6-8 AAC) turned up their defense a notch and forced ECU to commit five straight turnovers, delaying the Pirates enough to take a 61-60 lead with just 10 minutes left.
