Even when his team was leading by double digits with less than nine minutes to play, East Carolina basketball coach Jeff Lebo said he could sense the Tulane Green Wave was about to crest.
It did, and the Pirates lost their third consecutive game in the first triple overtime game in program history, 100-92, in Minges Coliseum on Wednesday night. The last time ECU (10-14, 2-9 American Athletic Conference) played in Minges, it fell in double OT to Houston and Lebo said dropping dramatic games like the last two at home has taken its toll.
The difference Wednesday was Tulane (9-16, 2-10) storming back from a 13-point second half deficit as the Pirates missed several opportunities to put the game away.
