Tracy McLendon, a 38-year old Franklinton, North Carolina native and graduate of ECU is the creator of the petition and her goal is simple.
“The goal behind it is obviously to get Ruff back,” McLendon said. “It’s for our fans to get some transparency about what happened. To this day none of us are really sure why this happened.”
The petition has made its rounds on various social media networks, showing up on Twitter and Facebook and receiving hundreds of shares and retweets. Thanks to the numerous shares, the petition gained early steam, earning hundreds of signatures in just its first hour of conception, nearing its ultimate goal of 7,500.
