There is less of Lance Tejada heading into the East Carolina basketball season, which means Pirate fans will probably see more of him.
Workouts with former ECU star Akeem Richmond — and maybe some choice cuisine during a visit to Puerto Rico — helped Tejada, a 6-foot-2 sophomore point guard, lose 10-to-15 pounds this summer, leaving a more muscular, but quicker, player than the freshman who played in all 33 games last season.
While the heavily recruited Pompano Beach, Fla., native and classmate B.J. Tyson each saw action off the bench in every Pirate game, their rookie campaigns were vastly different.
