The No. 16 ranked East Carolina University baseball team welcomed No. 18 ranked Wichita State University to Clark-LeClair Stadium and lost its second consecutive weekend series opener 14-3.
Wichita State (19-4, 1-0 AAC) managed to score a run in eight of the nine innings to capture its first-ever American Athletic Conference win. The Shockers scored first on third baseman Alec Bohm's solo shot to right-center field in the first inning.
ECU (18-6, 2-2 AAC) responded with a run of its own in the first when sophomore left fielder Bryant Packard hit his fourth home run of the season on the first pitch he saw, giving a dormant crowd a reason to cheer for a minute.
