Entering the seventh inning, the Pirates (16-8) found themselves down 2-1 and not having much success at the plate. That changed quickly, as ECU picked up seven hits and tacked on seven runs in the seventh inning to take a firm hold on the game. Dwanya Williams-Sutton, playing for the second game in a row after being out for about a month due to injury, played a big part in the rally, knocking in the tying run. Williams-Sutton finished the game going 3-for-5 at the plate, including a double and two RBI.
“Dwanya, like I’ve said a lot, is as talented a player I’ve ever coached,” ECU head coach Cliff Godwin said.
