East Carolina University junior quarterback Reid Herring has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to Stephen Igoe of 247Sports.com.
Herring was a big part of ECU’s offense last season, amassing over 1,600 passing yards while appearing in nine games. This season, Herring lost the position battle to sophomore quarterback Holton Ahlers during preseason camp and has been used only sparingly in the first four games.
In three appearances in 2019, Herring is 5-for-8 for 74 yards and zero touchdowns. He has also added two rushes for 12 yards and a score on the ground.
As Igoe reports, the likelihood that Herring remains with the Pirates is slim, but there is always a chance he stays with the program.
