With many football seniors as well as coaches leaving East Carolina following the 2016 season, the Pirates look to the youth to take the lead moving forward into the new season after playing in the annual Purple-Gold Saturday.
A little over a month ago the ECU football team returned to the Cliff Moore practice facility after a 3-9 season that left a bad taste in several players’ mouths. ECU will attempt to right the ship under second-year head coach Scottie Montgomery. And on Saturday, the team took to the field to showcase what it worked on during spring practice, in what was essentially an offense-versus-defense scrimmage that ended in a 17-17 tie.
