The best way to describe Joe Ingle’s role in regards to the East Carolina baseball pitching staff is to be determined.
After the Fayetteville native turned in one of the best seasons by a freshman a season ago while serving as the Pirates’ closer, the ECU coaches are experimenting this fall with Ingle as a starting pitcher. The results have been mixed, according to head coach Cliff Godwin and pitching coach Dan Roszel. The tall, hard-throwing right-hander being a starter remains a long-term possibility as the team approaches next weekend’s end of fall practice and then will transition to individual workouts.
