Despite the rain that came overnight and throughout the day, the weather cleared in time for the East Carolina University softball team on Saturday when it took on Saint Francis University getting a 7-5 win at home.
Coming off a two win, double header the day before, positive energy on the field was evident in the first inning. The Pirates (7-1) were quick to get the first three outs they needed to bat, but the first inning ended 0-0.
ECU scored the first run of the game in the second inning after redshirt junior utility player Rachel McCollum hit a double and got freshman infielder Sydney Riggs safely over home plate.
