ECU got a big boost from the crowd of 3,067 that was not shy to let the umpire and opposing team know when they disagreed with a call. As it turned out, the game had plenty to disagree on, as there were many close calls.
“We had a great crowd, they really helped us out today,” head coach Cliff Godwin said.
ECU decided to start senior Jimmy Boyd, the Sunday starter had been a mystery for much of the offseason, as Reid Love and David Lucroy left for the MLB. Boyd started off rough, as he allowed a base knock to the Lancers first three hitters.
