A win at home over Old Dominion University brought hope to much of Pirate Nation, but the hope that was brought by the East Carolina University football team was quickly washed away after the 49-6 beatdown at the hands of Temple University.
The Pirates’ (2-3, 0-2 AAC) defense started the game strong after Corey Seargent picked off Temple (3-3, 2-0 AAC) quarterback Anthony Russo on the opening drive. After that play, the first half was all Temple, as they went on to score 28 unanswered points before ECU kicker Jake Verity finally got the Pirates on the board with a field goal.
