The East Carolina men’s basketball team cut an 18-point second-half deficit to just two points with less than 30 seconds to play before falling 77-73 at College of Charleston on Monday night.
The Pirates (5-4) saw a three-game win streak snapped. College of Charleston (6-2) won its fourth in a row.
Trailing 70-59 with just under four minutes left, the Pirates used a 10-1 run to pull within two points — 71-69 — with 1:05 left.
ECU again cut it to two at 73-71 with 26 seconds left on a layup by B.J. Tyson. The Cougars made a free throw and left the Pirates with a chance to tie it with a 3-pointer, but Tyson’s 3 was off the mark and Charleston sealed it with free throws in the final seconds.
