When coach Cliff Godwin posted his first East Carolina baseball lineup of the season on Friday, the starter least likely to hit a home run was probably shortstop Turner Brown.
The freshman from Whiteville, who struggles to grow facial hair and is listed at 5-foot-9 and 151 pounds, was nestled in at the No. 9 spot. Yet it was Brown who hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning for the Pirates’ first major offensive spark and ace pitcher Evan Kruczynski did his part in an 11-1 victory for ECU over Longwood at Clark-LeClair Stadium.
Brown finished with an eventful statistical line.
