According to offensive coordinator Dave Nichol, both Blake Kemp and James Summers will take snaps on Saturdays for as long as the team needs. Still, the Pirates will need to overcome some of the many drawbacks that have stopped more coaches from trying the system out themselves.
Following Tuesday’s practice, Nichol said that he doesn’t expect Kemp or Summers to play with the fear of being replaced in mind, a common concern in two quarterback offenses. While performance on the field will ultimately dictate which quarterback plays more, both players feel secure in their role on the team.
