The East Carolina University softball team was defeated by the University of Memphis on Saturday 0-8 in the second game of three to go into Sunday with a 1-1 tie.
The Pirates (19-12, 1-1 AAC) committed three errors in the game and were out-hit by the Tigers (16-14, 1-1 AAC) by a 9-2 margin. For the Tigers senior catcher and third baseman Regan Hadley and freshman catcher Alyssa Dean posted a pair of hits each and sophomore utility Baylee Smith scored four runs. Sophomore infielder Ashleigh Inae and senior catcher Ashley Weingartz recorded the only two hits of the day for the Pirates.
