East Carolina University (10-16, 4-9 AAC) took on the University of Cincinnati (17-8, 10-3 AAC) in an overtime battle on Sunday after losing its previous game. The Pirates were locked in defensively to force the game into overtime, but could not come out on top to secure the win. The close game resulted in Cincinnati taking the victory, with a final score of 70-67.
“Obviously we’re very disappointed,” head coach Joe Dooley said. “It was a back and forth game, and I thought we had, as I'm sure they (Cincinnati) felt, some opportunities to create some separation.”
Pirates come up just short in overtime.
