A day after the Pirates took down the Lancers in their first game of the season behind a strong debut by freshman shortstop Turner Brown, (3-3, three RBI’s.) It was freshman in-fielder Dwanya Williams-Sutton however who impressed with a 3-5 batting performance and two RBI’s. The two freshmen were vital in the Pirates first series clinch of the year.
“I don’t feel any pressure. I just thank my teammates for allowing me to play and having my back and I’m just doing whatever my coach wants me too,” Williams-Sutton said.
East Carolina pitcher Jacob Wolfe earned the victory and did so in nice fashion, as he struck out five consecutive Longwood batters by the end of the fourth inning to add to his total of seven strikeouts.
