Jake Agnos earned his first collegiate win by throwing six innings while giving up four runs, three earned, with three walks and seven strikeouts. Every start it seems like Agnos’ confidence grows in the Friday night starter roll after taking over for team captain Evan Kruczynski who is still out due to injury.
“He’s handled (stepping in for Kruczynski) very well. It hasn’t always been pretty but he’s a freshman,” head coach Cliff Godwin said. “I don’t know if any other freshman in the country could handle it better than he has.”
The Pirates (15-8) got off to a quick start after allowing the Tigers (8-8) to score right off the bat in the top of the first.
