The Pirates (4-4, 2-2 AAC) came into the season with conference championship hopes, but last week’s loss to Temple seemingly dropped them out of contention. They aren’t mathematically eliminated, as Temple would have to drop three of its four remaining conference games for the Pirates to claim the title.
ECU has aspirations of winning its final four games to finish 8-4. If so, the Pirates would most likely receive a bowl bid, giving them a chance to finish better than last season’s 8-5 team.
