After a disappointing loss against Tulsa Friday night, the East Carolina softball team fought hard but was eventually defeated in the twelfth inning by Tulsa, 3-1 Saturday afternoon.
The ECU Pirates (25-28, 5-12 American Athletic Conference) battled hard against the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes (35-13, 13-1 AAC), who sit atop the conference standings, all the way until the twelfth inning. After being shut out and kept hitless on Friday, the Pirates were the first to score Saturday afternoon. They got on the board after junior infielder Meredith Burroughs smashed a booming solo home run off of Tulsa’s Emily Watson, for ECU’s only run of the game.
