The East Carolina University baseball team wrapped up its first series win on Saturday, taking a 2-0 lead in the best-of-three series against the West Carolina University with a 8-2 victory.
After not allowing any hits in the top of the first inning, the Pirates made their statement by scoring five runs in in their first opportunity to bat. Eight batters stepped to the plate in the and capitalized almost every time. Sophomore designated hitter Spencer Brickhouse helped get things started by hitting a three-run homer, his second on the year, solidifying the first five batters all scoring for ECU before an out was recorded.
