The East Carolina women’s basketball team’s challenging nonconference slate comes to a close three games in three days, beginning with today’s game against Chattanooga in Wilmington as part of the UNC Wilmington Christmas Classic.
The Pirates (6-3) have experienced mixed results so far, winning their first five games against mostly overmatched opponents before one win in their last four heading into today’s noon tip-off against Chattanooga, which was ranked in The Associated Press preseason Top 25 and sports a 6-4 record.
ECU’s last outing was an 83-69 loss at Auburn on Dec. 5 in which Pirate post player I’Tiana Taylor recorded her third straight double-double — 20 points and 14 rebounds — but East Carolina’s defense couldn’t hold down Auburn (7-2).
