Within the East Carolina women’s basketball team that is out to prove it is NCAA tournament worthy this season, there is leading scorer Jada Payne and her motivation coming from multiple sources.
Payne begins her senior season today when the Pirates play Texas-Rio Grande Valley in Corpus Christi at 3:30 p.m. as part of the Islanders Classic tournament, and by year’s end Payne could be a WNBA draft pick. She is a versatile 6-foot-2 guard who at the very least could help a professional squad at the free throw line.
There is also motivation from what happened a few weeks ago in Orlando, Fla.
