Pirates boast bookend 'brothers'

The East Carolina football team needs ways to jump-start its running game, which has been bottled up each of the last two weeks in a pair of Pirate losses, and which will be staring down Virginia Tech next.

Part of the plan in this Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. kickoff in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium will be the insertion, at some stage, of versatile backup quarterback James Summers. Although fellow former junior college transfer Blake Kemp has earned the lion’s share of the snaps, ECU head coach Ruffin McNeill said this week that Summers, used sparingly against the Florida Gators in his lone appearance so far, is part of the plan for the Hokies.
